Heyford Singers

Heyford Singers is a community choir formed in 2002 in Nether Heyford. The idea emerged from the wish of a couple of local ladies – who still play an important part in managing the affairs of the choir – to have something else in the community which would not only provide an opportunity for social contact but would also give many people the chance to sing in a less formal setting than exists in many choirs, which concentrate on ‘serious’ music.

Since 2002 the choir has grown and now has over 50 members who are drawn from various villages, as well as a few members from Northampton and Daventry. It performs in two productions each year – two concerts at Christmastime, and two more in the Spring, one of which is raise funds for the Baptist Church and the Parish Church.

An early decision to support local and national charities from raffles held at concert time, has resulted in almost £6000 being donated over the past eight years.

We rehearse weekly from September to May on alternate Thursdays and Fridays 7.15pm to 9.30pm in the Village Hall. Although we take our music seriously we never lose sight of the fact we are doing this for fun, so there are many lighter moments. If you are interested in coming along or want to find out more please contact us.

New singers are welcome and if you like singing – in the bath, in the car, at church, or can remember enjoying singing at school – why not give it a try with Heyford Singers?

If you are thinking about singing please telephone our Musical Director Mary Rice on 01327 340101 to discuss the prospect, and remember singing is good for your mind and your health.
