Update November 2018:
“Hello, my name is Alwyne Wilson and I’m pleased to have taken over as Chairman
of the Village Hall Committee in succession to Ray and Rosemary Hadden, who
have retired after serving for six years. First, I want to pay tribute to them both for
their dedicated commitment to the village hall. As a result of all their hard work, in
co-operation with other members of the Management Committee, the hall is in
excellent condition, warm and attractive which, in turn has attracted more users.
Nether Heyford’s village hall sits at the heart of our community and it is a privilege –
although quite a challenge – to follow Ray and Rosemary and I shall do my best to
maintain the high standards which have been set.
My background? I have enjoyed working with a wide range of community, voluntary
and charitable organisations over the years and, since moving to the village 35
years ago, my husband Bob and I were able join a variety of village organisations,
all based at the village hall. I’m keen to give something back for all the benefits we
We now have another new recruit to our Management Committee: Richard Musson.
Richard and his family have lived in the village for 38 years and his children all
attended the village school – as do his grandchildren now. He is also keen to
contribute to the village, using his extensive business experience.
Two items of information: there will be no Christmas Tree Festival this year; we felt it
was time to give it – and the organisers – a rest. But it may be back in the future.
But the Pantomime is coming back: ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ on Friday 28 December at 2pm. In the December issue of the Prattler we’ll announce ticket prices
and where to buy them. Availability will be limited so in the meantime note the date
in your diaries.”

Nether Heyford Village Hall was built with the help of volunteer labour and completed in May 1960. It is a prefabricated cedar-wood building. Brick extensions were added in 1991 to give new toilets and kitchen at one end and a storage room and committee room at the other.
In August 2003 work started on updating the hall – new UPVC double glazed windows, new insulation and cladding to the front and rear of the wooden section was fitted together with new front and kitchen doors. Again all the work was done by villagers giving their time and expertise voluntarily.
A new roof was put on in 2006.
In October 2008 Pre-School transformed the area at the rear of the hall to make a secure outdoor area for young children.
