Flower Society – December 2020

Bugbrooke and District Flower Society

Like all groups we have missed meeting with friends and our monthly ‘fix’ of beautiful flower demonstrations as well as various outings and events during the year. It is difficult to comprehend that we last met in February. The committee have held two zoom meetings, which was a new experience for some, with the intention of being ready should the situation improve; alas this has not been the case.

A few months ago, one of our members, an ex-National Demonstrator, gave us a wonderful evening by providing a demonstration via zoom – with over 70 of us watching all over the area it gave us a real boost.

As it seems likely we will be unable to hold our Christmas Workshop, which we always enjoy, we are looking at the possibility of holding a step-by-step lesson on zoom.

We very much look forward to the day we can welcome everyone back to enjoy friendship through flowers. Until then we send Seasons Greetings to all for the Christmas period and a healthy and peaceful year ahead.

We are really fortunate living in rural communities amongst some very pleasant countryside, so hope you have been able to make the most of the summer and enjoyed your gardens and maybe the local area.

We were saddened to hear that two former members had passed away during the summer – Chris Cooper and Dinah Anstead – both enthusiastic and loyal members for many years.

With the restrictions imposed on using village halls at present and the uncertainty of these difficult times we have, reluctantly, decided to postpone our meetings until the New Year, particularly as we do not meet in December. We can, however, make the most of the remaining good weather and use a few flowers from the garden to make some simple arrangements for our homes.

We hope all our groups/organisations will gradually get back to some sort of normality and in the meantime hope you get the best you can from these unprecedented times. We look forward to meeting up again with all our members and greeting new ones when circumstances permit.

Due to the uncertainty of when social distancing will be eased, we have decided to cancel all meetings for the rest of the year.

We look forward to meeting up again with our members and visitors when circumstances permit. In the meantime keep well, keep smiling and enjoy the summer.

Meetings are held on the fourth Monday of the month at 7.45pm in Nether Heyford village hall.

At our next meeting on the 23rd March we welcome Louisa Rigden with her
demonstration “Spring Delights”.

A warm welcome awaits both new members and visitors and those new to flower arranging are especially welcome.

We do not have a meeting in December and our January meeting on the 27th will be our AGM.

You are warmly invited to join us on 25th February at 7.45 pm in Nether Heyford Village Hall when we look forward to starting another year of flower arranging.
