Village Signs – June 2019

Village Signs

The planting is now finished and the signs are complete in Nether Heyford. We just need to now make sure that they are watered regularly. If you are passing, please give them a drink.

The Upper Heyford one will be done once the sign is replaced by the Council.

Thanks to Steve Corcoran, Anita Taylor, Rona & Ron Wade, The Foresters Arms and the Parish Council and also everyone that has donated bulbs and other items.

If you are interested in joining us, please either speak to Jill Garratt or check in at our Facebook page:  Heyford Entry-preneurs

URGENT – The Prattler’s Future

The Prattler’s Future

Due to an large unforeseen increase in the Prattler’s printing costs, we are having to look at all the options for the Prattler to continue. This could be producing editions Bi-monthly instead of monthly, cutting down on the articles and pages, charging or the worst option of all, which would be ceasing altogether.

We will be having a meeting in the next few weeks to decide the best way to continue. However, in the meantime, if anyone has any suggestions as to how we can avoid those scenarios, please get in contact with me via text or e-mail.

Many thanks

In memoriam: Julie Clewett – May 2019

Julie Clewett

15.04.1949 – 20.04.2019

JulieClewett

Julie Clewett died on Saturday 20th April. The ultimate cause was Sepsis, resulting from an infected surgical wound following an operation on her spine. The underlying issue was discovered to be secondary bone cancer – so in a way, the Sepsis saved Julie from a very painful and distressing last few months of a shortened life.

Julie was born in Meriden and grew up in Coventry. After leaving school she worked in the Architects Department at Coventry City Council where she met Tony. They married in June 1970 and moved to Nether Heyford in July 1977. Julie was very well-known in the village and was an active member of the community here, having been ‘Little Owl’ at Brownies for over 20 years, a member of the Village Hall Management and Fete committees, the Picturedrome Committee and a keen member of the Crafty Club, Pilates Club, Heyford Amblers and Heyford Garden Club. Anyone who met Julie will know how she was always cheerful and friendly and had a wonderful sense of humour. What is difficult to believe is just how quickly someone who was outwardly healthy, fit and active was brought down within just two months of being seen for a ‘bad back’.

She will be very much missed as ‘Mum’ to Ian, Chris and Becky, ‘Grandma’ to Olivia, Felix, Ellie, Erin, Owen and little baby Harriet and wife and best friend to Tony. As her close friend said, “they won’t make another one like Julie”. RIP

Spring Clean – May 2019

Spring Clean 2019

Many thanks to everyone who took part in this years Spring Clean. Due to their efforts, an amazing total of 59 black sacks of litter were collected plus 2 sacks of cans for recycling.

Added to this were tyres, number plates, car parts, oil cans and even a carpet
which had been dumped into the ditches along the road to Upper Heyford.

The village is looking a lot cleaner and hopefully it will stay that way for the
foreseeable future.

I am your new PCSO and I am responsible for the Bugbrooke and Heyford Ward. I have been a PCSO for Northamptonshire Police for 10 years working both town and rural. More recently I worked on the Early Intervention pilot, a team of PCs and PCSOs who were working with young people and their families to offer support and break the cycle of crime. I am a former student of Campion School and originate from Duston so know the area reasonably well. I live on the other side of Northampton now with my wife and our daughter. Meanwhile if you see me about in either village please say hi. If you need to contact me please email me c7115@northants.pnn.police.uk bear in mind I work shifts so may not immediately respond.

If you wish to report an incident to the Police please call us on 101 or via the online
form at www.northants.police.uk, recommended for less urgent matters.

All emergencies should be phoned in on 999.

Matt Taylor (Police, Police Community Support Officer (C7115) Daventry &
South Northants)
